Environment related to food packaging

The Food Sanitation Act, revised on June 13, 2018, sets regulations for the use of safe food utensils, containers and packaging. This new Food Sanitation Act implements a stricter "Positive List System". This "Positive List System" is a regulation that prohibits all substances in principle, and only those that are guaranteed to be safe to be used in food utensils and food packaging. As a result, substances which safety has not been confirmed can be completely eliminated, and the purpose is to raise the level of food safety.

T&K TOKA's approaches

In recent years, in the field of food packaging, attention has also been paid to the impact of the penetration and transfer of UV ink components into food containers made by paper or other materials. In consideration of safety, we have launched the "UV SAFFIR" series, which uses only the photoinitiators that are listed in the Swiss Ordinance (Part A). This series also conforms to the voluntary standards for dissolution tests set by the Japan Association of Milk Packaging and Machinery, and we have also lined up the types in consideration of conformance with stricter Nestlé guidance.
