UV Curable Inks

The current energy such as oil, coal, and natural gas is the main source of energy today and followed by nuclear power and renewable energy. The fossil energy is a finite resource, and if we continue to use it at this pace, it is predicted that we will be almost out of it in 100 years.
The other problem is that carbon dioxide is produced when fossil energy is produced. If the consumption of fossil energy continues to increase, global warming and climate change will become more serious.

The renewable energy sources including solar, hydro, wind, biomass, and geothermal energy are the resources that can be regenerated, and therefore there is no need to consider about running out of resources which is the case with fossil fuels including oil. It is also environmentally friendly energy resource that does not emit CO₂.

The organic solvent which is contained in ink evaporates to form a dry coating film after the printing. The vaporized organic solvents are generally combusted and decomposed into water and CO₂, which are then released into the atmosphere. Therefore, each company member is making daily efforts to reduce the organic solvents in the inks which are the source of CO₂. The countermeasure formulation for CO₂ is to change from solvent base components to water-based and biomass which will also lead to countermeasures against depletion of natural resources such as oil.

The conventional UV inks are relying heavily on petrochemicals, and we have been developing products which are based on the SDG's philosophy. We have received many requests for biomass in the label and cup market in particular, and have launched a lineup of environmentally friendly inks by replacing some of the UV ink raw materials with biomass materials.
